Parenting college students is as important as parenting our younger children. The influence of the parent can have a profound effect on their emerging adult. In parenting college students, Moms and Dads deal with power struggles and emotional volatility that are challenging. This is all part of the maturation process. There is also job uncertainty after graduation which escalates the college students’ anxiety. Effective parenting reassures our children that their education is their best preparation for their future. Parents can also encourage their student to seek leadership opportunities.

Job recruiters search each year for college campus leaders. When parenting college students, parents need to stress the importance of social organizations, such as fraternities and sororities, as a way of developing leadership and responsibility traits. During the launching years, parental controls ease, and hopefully leadership begins to emerge.

Parents can share with their student that college is the practice ground where leadership qualities are honed. Social organizations are good for leadership development but also an excellent way for students to make friends and sharpen skills that will be useful later in life.

Parenting College Students – Leaders Emerge from Within Organizations

In discussions with their college student, parents should encourage their young adults to join social organizations like fraternities and sororities. Students network in these groups, and make contacts and endearing friendships that may last a lifetime. During the college years, emerging adults need to push their boundaries and discover who they are and discover their own wonderful attributes.

College Students may not realize the importance of taking a leadership position in a social organizations. In these organizations, the student will develop the leadership skills they will need to enter into the world with confidence after graduation. Moms and Dads can point out that skills such as learning to work with people of different cultures and diverse backgrounds will help them in the future.

A documented history of leadership adds to your student’s resume, and building a resume is an on-going task that should always be first and foremost. The goal is graduation. With graduation, there is independence.

Parenting College Students – Leaders of the Future

When parenting college students, a good correlation can be made between adults who as students held leadership positions in social organizations and the positions they hold in society today. These leadership lessons should be offered by parents in a spirit of support and encouragement.

Leadership is expected in these social organizations and the student learns by doing. The student may be an officer, have the responsibility for an event, or participate on a committee. Students learn budgeting, they learn how to run an effective meeting, and they learn how to participate in an effective meeting. The student often finds that they can speak in front of a group and motivate others. This is the type of experience you might not get in a classroom.

Even the famed film classic, “Animal House,” recognized this connection. At movie’s end, the last scene showed the positions that the fraternity leaders held in society some twenty years later. When parenting college students, parents can remind their students that leadership in college reminds employers that the applicants are more than just students.

Leadership emerges from within college social organizations, and our emerging adults will utilize this burgeoning talent in the real world upon graduation. In parenting college students on the importance and relevance of social organizational leadership, we are grooming the leaders of tomorrow right here and now!

College students and money; the strained relationship that makes college life just that much harder than it should be. Times have changed and now a lot more people go to college to get degrees than in the past. It used to be only wealthy people who could get such an education, but thanks to all the scholarships and loans now almost everybody can have a degree.

Scholarship – Thank You very much
Loans – Errr???

This article will talk about an earning alternative that will enhance the college students and money managing relationship. An alternative that can make college life just that much more easy and exciting.

College students and money. Yes, Plenty of students have the money to go to college, thanks to these loans, but when they graduate they’re several thousand dollars in debt. Not everyone has a trust fund, or parents who were able to save up for their college life. So part-time jobs, odd jobs and work-study programs have become the norm of college life.

In recent times, with college students and money issues going hand-in-hand more often than not, turning to part-time jobs has only taken away more of the valuable time that students need to study or really live out that college experience.

So here is the alternative to working 15 hours a week at a boring, useless job that you would never have done if you didn’t really need the money. But you first need to check if this alternative is for you.

1. Do you need the money (whether its $500 OR $5000 a month)
2. Do you have 1-2 hours a day to spend at your computer
3. Do you have access to a computer and the internet
AND…
4. Do you think it is worth it to spend some time and hard work now for no money, if you won’t have to spend any time later for a LOT of money

My answer to all these questions was YES, and so I became an internet affiliate marketer. The gist of internet affiliate marketing is that you become the middle man to sell a product belonging to someone else to a consumer online. Commissions for this type of work can be very attractive. Some even 75% of the sales price. This job entails aligning a customer and the product. That is the basic philosophy. Be sure to find the right training to learn the art of affiliate marketing, because if you don’t do it right it can be very frustrating, but if you find the right people to teach you, it can be as easy as pie.

College students and money shortages do not have to be your story. Look for creative ways to spend less time and earn more than the other conventional methods and you’ll be miles ahead of the curve. I wish you the best of luck.

If you are a college student who is struggling while living off of student loans and grants and/or working at a minimum wage job, you are probably not happy.  If earning more money would make you happy, what is wrong with trying to find a way to do it?  Nothing.  Although, you may not have achieved your degree yet, it does not mean you cannot make 6 figures in a year.

There are some fortunate high profile attorney, doctors and scientists who have made a fortune.  So, there are certain careers that do pay a lot of money. Unfortunately, not all people make it through college, for whatever reason and possibly, because of personal circumstances.  Many people may give up on going to school, because they are tired of going to school and just do not have the finances to pay for their tuition.  Although, some parents pay for their kid’s tuition, sometimes, they children’s futuristic goals change and they no longer choose to spend years going to college.  Things change in life, everyone does not desire to live their lives for their parents.  Perhaps that is the best way to enjoy your life, live your life for yourself, even if it means dropping out of school, but you still need money to help you buy all the things you always wished for.  You still need to care for your family and especially yourself.  Graduating from college is not the only way you can make money and you don’t have to spend years in school to do it or even worse, eventually discover there are no jobs available in a any chosen profession.

College students must evaluate their own lives and be cautious when dropping out of their courses.  Some people say, it is a mistake if an individual chooses to drop out of college, but sometimes, it can be  a good choice, if one creates a strategy toward their successful future.  College is just so you can become a master at any trade of career, but getting a college education does not determine your destiny.  There are many people who have become book educated and know so much more than a college graduate.  Furthermore, another good choice would be for you to remain in college while making a decent income.  You can do it.  You can spend so much time in your studies and make a set time to make money.  This works out for you, because if you remain in college, you’ll not only have a degree, you will have a lot of money while learning different subjects.  So you see, you have a more than one option.

As a college student, you are fortunate to know a lot about the Internet and a good idea is to do research on discovering a home based business that will possibly make you a lot of money.  You maybe thinking I’m talking about work at home jobs, right?  No.  I am talking about home based businesses that will help you make over 5 figures monthly.  You have a good advantage learning more knowledge while getting wealthy.  It is possible to start earning some good money before you graduate, all you have to do is learn how to do it.  Make up in your mind, if you desire to enjoy a wealthy lifestyle while studying your college courses.

If you think you might desire to earn a lot of money before graduation, then here is how you can do it and pay close attention.  Do research on any home based business you can start on the Internet.  Home based businesses are a good choice to start making some good money, especially when you include the Internet.  Back in the mid 1980s, people were starting to learn about home based businesses; this was before the Internet.  People were trying to sell through local free classifieds.  They would sell information through their local Penny Saver or any other free classified newspaper or they would even post fliers on telephone poles on the streets and make it where people can tear of a small piece of paper with the post office box, including a phone number.  Now, you have an advantage, because you have access to the Internet reaching a mass number of people.  You also have a greater advantage, because you can use all sorts of ways to market your business online.

As a college student you should have a good habit of doing research online.  You should have already been taught how to use the Internet and search for things that interest you.  It’s so simple, since you have been reading this article, you have got to be interested in making some good money online; therefore, you would put in the key phrase, ‘make money online’ or ‘making money with home based businesses’ you should find thousands of results.  Once you discover a home based business, make sure it is not difficult for you to comprehend.  However, if it is easy to understand it should be very easy for you to market your business opportunity.  Always keep in mind, there are millions of people in debt and a good percentage of them want to make some good money just like you.  So, don’t ever think no one would accept what you have to offer online.  Even, if you speak to people who seem to have no interest in your business opportunity, it does not mean there is not a thousand people waiting for some sort of wealth opportunity.  Sometimes you get people who will opt into your website at first, but then when you follow up with them, they will act as though they never opted into your website or called your telephone number, do not let this discourage you.  Like I mentioned before, there will always be someone who is really looking to make some good money online.  For the ones who are not interested or possibly acting as though they never contacted you, they will never experience a life of wealth, so don’t give up.

Remember, while attending make good use of what professors have taught you and blend it with making money using the Internet.  After doing so, you will discover there will be no reason for you not to succeed and make some good money.   It takes commitment when you decide you want to make some good money and join a lucrative cash flow system.  If you are committed to earning at least over $500 daily, it will not be difficult for you to succeed.  If you envision yourself as a successful entrepreneur, then making a commitment should not be difficult.  You control your destiny by making a commitment to whatever it is you giving your time to do and if it is making money, then your future will be grand.

Are you ready to be committed to changing your life, making some good money online?  Are you a college student who desires to get wealthy before graduating from college?  Do you realize you don’t need a degree to get involved with a wealth opportunity?  Yes? Then, you are on your way to financial freedom while continuing  your education.  Make a decision not to believe you have to wait on your degree in order to receive a lucrative cash flow.  It is a myth and it was never accurate.

In conclusion, as a college student you learn a lot of things in college.  Knowledge is power, but so is money.  The more money you make, the more you will be able to buy nice expensive things, pay your bills and get out of debt.  When you choose to make money while gaining more knowledge, you will discover that knowledge and money go hand and hand, but do not let anything get in the way of you making a lot of money before graduation.  Make your money before you complete your college courses and you will be glad you decided to do so.

When we parent well, everyone will reap grand rewards. The fruits of parenting college students will be harvested in the seasons that follow the college years, when the formal education is complete. While there is an ease of parental controls with college students, there continues to be a need for guidance that is as meaningful and as valuable as it has ever been.

Parents can help make their maturing young adult children more employable by teaching them core values, such as responsibility, accountability, independence, and respect for others. These values will make them a more attractive hire for prospective employers in their future. Their parents are their role models and teachers.

It is a good idea to encourage your children to practice their social skills with adult family members and friends. At home, where they feel safe, is a great time to practice adult social skills. Learning to communicate well with adults and hold a conversation will pay off later. I encourage parents to expose their children to adults and expect them to behave appropriately. These interpersonal relationships can be building blocks. It also builds self confidence. Later this confidence will reflect in reduced anxiety during job interviews and new situations with people they do not know.

Confidence reflects in future relationships. Internships, community activities and volunteer situations are additional ways of enhancing relationship experiences. Your maturing child may also discover some great people outside their normal circle.

Parenting College Students – Making Them Independent

Some students need their parents’ encouragement to be more independent during the high school years. Parents can teach their children independence by expecting their youngsters to be responsible for themselves. This process begins in the early teenage years. It results in the transformation of children from being completely reliant in preschool to relatively independent young men and women by the time they are off to college. This is a good thing. When you do your job right, your children will leave home.

Parenting college students becomes an easier task if the students have been given responsibilities. Daily living skills and financial responsibility are key. Prospective college students should be taught to do their own wash, to prepare simple meals, to clean their own room space and to budget money while living at home. They can learn from their mistakes while they have a safety net around them. When they are on their own, they are secure in knowing they have daily living skills.

Having a daily routine is extremely important with college students. When they have a routine, getting up and going to work every day is not so shocking. Going to classes every day is one kind of routine but getting up and going to a job every day is a different experience.

Parenting College Students – Communication is a Key to Employment Success

Good communication skills are essential. The goal of a graduate is to be employable and to find a job they enjoy. After practicing proper communication with adults at home, speaking with advisers and professors in school, interviewing will not be so daunting. A graduate will need to shine above all the other applicants when it is time to apply for jobs. A confident graduate will be able to sell themselves. An employer is looking for skills but they are also looking for the right personality.

A child learns all kinds of skills in the family. They learn the core value of respect for others. They learn kindness. These skills will be reflected in the employment interviews and later in the day-to-day interactions with their supervisors and their peers.

When communicating with adults, good body language is essential. Some practical suggestions are: maintaining good eye contact during a conversation; having a firm hand shake is important for both boys and girls again keeping good eye contact; having slow clear speech in an audible tone shows confidence.

A child learns these skills at home and by observing others. Expose your child to situations where they can both practice these skills and observe these skills. In a non critical way, you might speak to your student in private and have them practice certain situations that will benefit them later. Make it fun and light. Also remember to comment when you see them practicing what they have learned.

The life skills you teach are invaluable. These skills will help your student to build their resume. Expose your children to different situations and different kinds of people. Help them grow as a person.

These are some simple steps to help your young adult child become more employable. Parenting skills with the goal of increasing their social skills is a tried and true winning strategy for future job success!

college student jobs

If you’re a college student, you may find that you’re having a difficult time coming up with cash to pay for things that you need, such as gas, food, and textbooks. Even if you have a part time job, you probably aren’t able to work enough hours to make as much money as you need. Here are some ways to make extra money while still having enough time to go to classes and finish your homework.

1. Sell Books. Half.com is the best place to sell textbooks that you no longer need. You can also sell other books that you have laying around on half.com. If you aren’t able to sell certain books on half.com, there are also other places that will buy used books from you. Websites like powell.com and cash4books.net offer money for used books and even pay for the postage to ship your books to them. These sites can be picky about what they will buy from you, however. If you are unable to sell certain books online, try brick-and-mortar used bookstores like Half Price Books.

2. Sell other items. You can sell more than just books using online auctions and free classified website. Other than the well-known sites like eBay, there are plenty of niche auction sites out there such as gothauctions.com and free non-auction classified sites such as blujay.com

3. Tutoring. If you are exceptional at a particular subject, helping other students could be a great way to make some extra cash. Just be careful not to let yourself fall behind in your own classes while trying to help others succeed.

4. Babysitting. A lot of people would prefer hiring a college student to babysit their children, since college students are generally more responsible than high school students. After you put the children to bed, you can use the time to study or work on homework while you wait for the parents to get home.

5. Sell Plasma. This option might not be a good choice for those who are squeamish around needles, but there are many blood banks that offer cash incentives for plasma donations. You can earn 0 a month and help savesomeone’s life by donating plasma.

6. Online Writing. While you probably won’t get rich, you can make some extra money each month by writing articles for websites such as triond or bukisa.

7. Get an On-Campus Job. Most colleges have jobs available for students. While you will have to set aside a few hours each week to work, the fact that you’d be working on campus will save you travel time and it will be easier to schedule working hours around classes. If you have classes a couple hours apart during the day, this could be an excellent opportunity to make money during the time that you would be idling away on campus anyway.

8. Become a Secret Shopper. While a lot of the “secret shopping” companies out there are scams, there are legitimate companies that will pay you to shop. Secret shopping can be a great way to make some extra money. If you choose to do this, make sure you research the company you are planning on shopping for before registering on the website (if a company charges any money to become a member, it is, without exception, a scam).

9. Start a Blog. You can make money from blogging via advertisements from programs such as Google AdSense or by selling products on your blog from affiliate programs like Amazon Associates. It will take a while for your blog to become popular enough to be able to make any amount of money from it, however.

10. Recycle Aluminum Cans. While you won’t make much from this at all, you might as well recoup some of the money you spent on the soda in the first place. This is also a great way to help the environment.

11. Be a Lab Rat. Volunteer for paid psychology studies. If you are willing to be studied, you can make some extra cash. Check around for studies at your college, as well as other nearby campuses. I would not recommend drug studies, however, as experimental drugs can cause harmful side effects, but psychology studies can be fun and are unlikely to cause any physical harm.

12. Odd Jobs and Day Labor. You can offer to do random jobs for people such as yard work, cleaning, building things, etc. Tell people you know that you are available for such work, place ads on your college’s social networks, and look for ads from people looking for help with such projects.

In addition, the competition for limited scholarship funds become tighter and tighter as millions of high school graduates decide to attend college. The result? More and more students are taking out student loans.

In today’s competitive and expensive world of higher education, student loans have become a necessity. When students get out of college, many of them enter the real world already deep in debt. If any good can be derived from it all, it is that students can derive valuable financial lessons from the student loan process in their post-graduate years.

As of 2005, four years of in-state college tuition has an average cost of $41,000. Out-of-state tuition is between $60,000 and $80,000. Students whose parents are not able to pay for full college tuition end up applying for student loans.

Many students, though, see loans as an all-or-nothing proposition, which shouldn’t be the case. There are other sources of funding they can explore. Student loans are only one source of funding. In addition to student loans, students can seek part-time work and apply for smaller scholarships. The key is to keep their debt low.

Student loans provide students a flexible means of paying off their college tuition. The federal government offers student loans with low interest rates. The low interest rates help students remain in school without having to worry about accumulating huge interests on their loans and burying them deeper in debt. In addition, students are also given a grace period of six to nine months after graduation, allowing them some breathing room as they look for their first job.

In spite of the high costs of education, high school students should still consider going to college. Students should look at a student loan as a career investment, a loan that they will be able to pay off once they land a good paying job.
